When Kawal first arrived in Rotorua back in 2016, it was with nothing but an open work visa, a suitcase, and a strong determination to succeed. No contacts, no network—just a willingness to work hard and see where opportunity might lead.

Like many who start fresh in a new country, Kawal began with seasonal and hands-on roles—working on kiwi farms and later at a kiwifruit packhouse. These experiences, though modest, laid a solid foundation: resilience, adaptability, and the drive to step up wherever needed.

Next came a role at Claymark, where Kawal worked as a process worker. Here, he gained firsthand experience in manufacturing, learning about products like weatherboards used for building homes, and sharpening his attention to detail—a skill that would prove invaluable later on.

Ambition soon called, and Kawal made the move to Auckland in search of greater opportunities. – A Bold Leap Through Tradestaff, he landed a temporary role at Maser in August 2018 as a warehouse helper. This role was a turning point—it offered exposure to cable management and operations, sparking an interest in the industry and providing a platform to build expertise.

What started as a temporary placement quickly turned into something more. Kawal’s commitment and work ethic earned him a permanent role, and over the years, he took on greater responsibilities within the business.

In 2023, his journey came full circle when he was promoted to Distribution Manager—a role that sees him leading a large warehouse team and ensuring smooth, efficient operations.

Reflecting on his journey, Kawal says:

“Coming to New Zealand with nothing but hope and determination, I’m grateful for every challenge, every opportunity, and everyone who supported me along the way. This country has given me the chance to build a future, and I look forward to continuing this journey with even greater goals ahead.”
