Biosecurity Awareness Month

Biosecurity Awareness

Damage caused by pests and diseases can be costly and disruptive for all New Zealand businesses. As an Island nation in the middle of the Pacific our economic wealth hinges on our ability to import and export goods and services across our border.

Pests and diseases can seriously impact our primary industries, our tourism sector, and damage our reputation as a safe trader of goods and services.

From freight and logistics, to retail and hospitality, biosecurity affects us all.

Biosecurity requires a team effort where we are all taking action to reduce biosecurity risks within our homes, at work, while enjoying the great outdoors, when we travel and within our communities.

We all have a part to play. We are therefore proud to promote August as our biosecurity awareness month.

With so much at stake, we can play our part by keeping our eyes open and reporting anything unusual. Being aware of biosecurity risks helps protect Aotearoa from pests and diseases.

Call the Biosecurity New Zealand hotline on 0800 80 99 66 to report any suspected land, fresh water or marine pests, or diseases in plants or animals.
