Delivering Future-Proof Fibre Connectivity
@ Quail Ridge Country Club
When Quail Ridge Country Club in Kerikeri set out to create a premium retirement lifestyle village, connectivity was identified as a critical part of the long-term vision.
The goal was clear: deliver high-quality homes supported by a robust, future-proof Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network capable of supporting not only internet services, but the growing range of digital technologies modern residents rely on every day.
To bring that vision to life, Ranadi Fibre Installations (RTFI) was selected to design and deliver the fibre infrastructure solution, partnering with Maser Communications and leveraging Emtelle’s blown fibre technology.
Building for the Future
The Quail Ridge project began in 2016 and has evolved over a ten-year design and build journey. Today, approximately 150 homes are connected via FTTH services, with the development expected to grow to around 250 homes upon completion.
The network supports:
- GPON internet services
- Village-wide Wi-Fi
- Fibre-delivered television services
- Telephony
- CCTV systems
- Area-wide sewer monitoring and control systems
At the heart of this infrastructure is a scalable blown fibre network built using Maser-supplied Emtelle products.
Designing a Flexible Fibre Network
The backbone network was constructed using 24-way Emtelle microduct bundles, with underground H-Branch closures providing strategic breakout points throughout the development.
Individual microducts were directed to each home’s communications enclosure, while LFH products were utilised internally to provide a safe and efficient fibre pathway from garages to hallway data cabinets.
As the village expanded, above-ground roadside cabinets and pedestals were introduced to provide additional flexibility and support future growth.
Key products supplied through Maser included:
- Emtelle 24-Way Direct Install and Direct Burial Duct Bundles
- LFH Microduct Systems
- 2-Fibre and 12-Fibre Enhanced Performance Fibre Units (EPFU)
- FTTH Fibre & Tube Management Cabinets
- Optimus Fibre Management Pedestals
- IP68 H-Branch Closures for underground and direct burial applications
This combination created a highly scalable infrastructure capable of growing alongside the development while maintaining operational efficiency and reliability.
